If your planning on some walking or climbing then it’s always a good idea to have a quick check of the forecast before you go. You can choose the driest venue or the most suitable route according to the fickle Dartmoor weather! Being so near the coast, and considerably higher than the surrounding area Dartmoor is colder and twice as wet as the coast. It’s worth being careful about where you get your weather forecast from, as some postcode based sites are pretty inaccurate. It’s worth paying attention as to where the weather is coming from, as sometimes it is a lot better to be on the sheltered east side of the moor if the usual westerly winds are bringing rain.
