Ama Dablam Expedition 2013

We’re organizing another Ama Dablam Expedition in the post monsoon season to Nepal. Having already had some interest in this trip, we’ve sorted out some dates and an early booking incentive. 20th October – 17th November 2013. Cost: £3850. For full details of our Ama Dablam Expeditions please visit the main page here. Including the Expedition application form. Our expedition in 2012 was very successful, and we look forward to working with the same climbing sherpas and basecamp staff in 2013. They are a great bunch, and together we work hard to achieve a safe and successful trip. Our Ama Dablam expeditions have limited places so as to provide maximum flexibility when using the mountains restricted campsites. It also ensures a relaxed and positive atmosphere, where you can get to know all our Sherpa’s and staff personally, something that is so often lost on a big group. Ama Dablam Expedition Itinerary

Here’s a draft itinerary for our Ama Dablam expedition. Subject to change at a moments notice! Seriously though, every trip needs a flexible itinerary and every trip ends up changing the programme at some point. There’s a number of “rest days” which are really acclimatisation days where sometimes means short walks around camp and other times involve some bigger days gaining some height before dropping back down to sleep at the same altitude, a good acclimatisation technique. Lukla’s airport sometimes getting closed due to the weather, so there’s some spare days for that. Depending on our acclimatization during the trek we have a two options: Island Peak or Chukung Ri. Both are good little peaks and will prepare us for Ama Dablam. Check our main Ama Dablam page for more information and links. Download a pdf of our Ama Dablam Vertical Frontiers Ama Dablam Itinerary 2012 here. Day 1 & 2 – Travel The First two days of our expedition are taken up by our international flight to Kathmandu. Here we are met by our experienced Sherpa Company who will meet us in the airport and provide a bus to our hotel. This is a 5min walk from Kathmandu’s busy tourist centre “Thamel” and is a nice quiet Hotel with gardens and plenty of room. Day 3 – In Kathmandu We have a day in Kathmandu to prepare for our expedition. Starting of the...

It's that time of year.... the summer isn't far away and it's worth thinking about summer alpine plans early. Booking guides and huts are worth doing in advance! And that isn't a marketing ploy by the way :)
This year we have a few trips scheduled, including Mont Blanc (3 trips), Matterhorn and some lesser known peaks like the Domes du Miage.
Have a browse of the scheduled trips page - and give us a bell if you'd like to arrange a trip on different dates, we have a list of people who'd like to share some guided climbing adventures.

Another day of laps in the trees. Low angled slopes avoiding the avi hazard and trying to keep out of the wind. Pretty wild weather at the moment.
