Autumn Mountaineering in Arolla

The “Matterhorn Boys” sent me an email with a few requests; Quiet huts, interesting routes, away from the crowds and fairly adventurous. So after a bit of thinking we settled on some autumn climbing in the Arolla region of Switzerland. With the huts shut we would use the “winter rooms” which are always open, have a wood burning stove, bunk beds and blankets etc. You do of course have to carry and cook your own food, as well as melt snow. Alpine Skills Course – Chamonix

Photos from a three day Alpine Skills course based around Chamonix. We finally had some good stable weather, and although it was windy up high, the weather at low to mid altitude was brilliant and we were able to climb and practice each day. Introduction to Navigation Course – Dartmoor
