Private Guiding…

At Vertical Frontiers we specialise in private guiding on tailor-made trips.
In fact, 80% of our guests are repeat clients working through a series of Alpine Climbs or Ski trips with our guides.

There are many benefits of hiring a private guide rather than joining a group.

The ability to pick the best mountain or route for your ambitions taking into account the weather and conditions at that time is a huge advantage compared with being tied into a set program.

The benefits of joining a group are both social and economic. It is cheaper, and climbing or skiing with a group can be great fun. You always need to be aware that we will go at the pace of the slowest member and for some ascents, if one person needs to turn around then the whole group must turn around also.

Many Alpine Climbs and some ski mountaineering routes that are long, technical (or both) often need to be guided on a 1:1 ratio.

Sometimes we team people up for the initial training days, before bringing in extra “summit guides” for the final ascent.

All of our “open trips” for both mountaineering and ski touring can be booked as a private trip. For a completely bespoke trip or to chat through some ideas don’t hesitate to contact us.

Started early with plan A and finished a while later on plan C. Some days are like that.

It got a bit chilly on the fingers this morning - rock climbing at 3000m after some snow overnight. We carried rock shoes but kept the big boots on all the way, just for the warmth :)

The Cabane d'Orny is a great hut, friendly, traditional and tons of accessible rock right out the back door. Planning on doing more there next summer.

Back up high after the weekends storms. Found some nice consolidated snow for a mini north face training climb. Feels quiet after the August crowds.
