Aiguille d'Orny – Chamonix - France
Rock Climbing, Mountaineering
Topping out at 3150m, the Aiguille d'Orny is a great introduction to alpine rock climbing.
They are a few routes on it's faces, but we commonly climb the classic south arete.
The climbing is pretty steady, mostly in the 3a – 4b range with the odd harder move.
Most will climb in rock shoes, unless it's cold of course!
Altogether there are around nine pitches leading to the small summit.
The climbing is bolted, but it's worth having a small rack of cams with you as they can be a little spaced.
A 25m abseil and some scrambling leads to the descent route and back to the hut.
Required experience/skill level:
Intermediate. This 300m rock route is in an alpine setting, and previous multipitch experience is highly recommended!

The Cabane d'Orny is a great base for a wide variety of alpine mountaineering and rock climbs. There is good rock climbing directly behind the refuge which is well bolted and perfect for a climb after walking up to the hut on day 1.
