Mont Blanc Summit Trip – Italian Route

Climb Mont Blanc from the challenging and beautiful Italian side of the mountain.

Required experience:
The Italian “pope route” is long and challenging. Prior mountaineering and good crampon skills are a must. This is harder than the normal Gouter route and you will need to be physically fit for the long summit day.
Example itinerary

Meet in Chamonix for gear check and briefing. Travel through to Italy and use the Skyway lift. Mountaineering and acclimatisation before a night in Torino refuge.

Morning crevasse rescue training, then descend lift and travel to Gressoney. Lift and then approach climb to Mantova refuge.

Ascent of Vincent Pyramid (4215m) and Giordano (4167m). Descend to lift station and return to Chamonix. Night in Chamonix.

Rest day – no guiding.

Approach to Gonella refuge from Courmayeur. (5 hours)

Ascent of Mont Blanc from Gonella refuge. This is a long day with a very early start. We aim to stay in the Gouter refuge on the French side to make a traverse of the mountain, but this depends on hut availability and conditions.

Return to Chamonix from refuge, and back up weather day.
Price includes:
Guiding fees, logistics & travel within the Chamonix valley. Four nights in mountain huts as per the itinerary.
Price excludes:
Lift passes, Chamonix accommodation, equipment rental, insurance, flights and any other expenses not listed above.
This trip needs two climbers to run.
