It was the Bicton Boys second day on snow, the first on crampons and they wanted some proper climbing. A bit of a pump. Both are strong rock climbers but wanted ice rather than mixed.
So we headed over towards Hells Lum this morning, passing a couple of teams who were on their way back up, unhappy with the snow conditions.
We managed to thread our way down the vegetation rather than the snow, but looking over at Hells Lum, it was quite buried so we headed left and around to Stag Rocks where we found the crag in really good condition.
The boys did really well, and got themselves a mega pump.
Having not intended a route of this nature I only had six ice scres with me today, so some v-threads on the lead helped on the protection front… Superb climbing.
