I had a nice email from a German climber, Gerhard, a couple of days ago who contacted me asking if my group had summited Ama Dablam on the 4th November last year.
It turns out that Gerhard had been trekking up the Kumbu on his way to Island Peak and had aimed his rather large, posh camera in the dirtection of Ama Dablam whilst we were on our way to the summit.
Gerhard’s due to send me a few more photos, but I couldn’t wait to post the first one, which really does show the true scale of the mountain, taken from almost 7km away.
We’re the group at the front. Not far away from the summit. Stunning weather, but cold in the wind that day.
So a massive thanks to Gerhard for getting in touch, and a quick plug for this years expedition, more details of which can be found here: Ama Dablam 2013.
