Dartmoor is a fantastic spot in the south-west for all sorts of activities. My usual spot was the hay tor area, where I worked, lived, climbed and ran for six years.

Now that we are based in the alps for the summer and winter seasons, its really the autumn when we are back in Devon, and back on the moor.

The weather wasn’t too helpful for climbing on the latest visit, but trail running is an all weather activity, a little rain doesn’t hurt anyone!

Matt was keen for a long ish run, and I was keen to run somewhere different.

With a little logistical planning we had an A – B route rather than the usual loop, and a chance to run across the north moor from Okehampton down the Tavistock.

Actually, it stayed dry, but the head wind was quite a bit of a challenge and certainly put paid and attempts at conversation.

We seemed to manage to run into every big bog along the way, I think my feet were dry for the first five minutes only.

It was great to run across the western side of the north moor again, it always brings back memories of ten tors, especially my first event when it really did put down some good snow in pretty bad weather conditions, feels like a long time ago now….
