It seems my ski season isn’t quite finished just yet: Just had a couple of days skiing up at the Aiguille du Midi with Francois, preparing for our Mont Blanc attempt this week, guiding for High Mountain Guides.

There’s some great snow around, lots of good spring skiing and mostly untracked. A few other teams around skiing and touring, some of whom are still heading down the Vallee Blanche, which by the sound of it, and having seen the photos, is pretty dire. Lots of hard glacial ice and walking….

Lots of teams out climbing as well, the classic routes on the Cosmiques Arete and Pointe Lachanel as well as harder routes on the triangle du Tacul, East face of the Tacul and the routes on the north face side of the Cosmiques Arete. There’s a track going up the normal route on the Tacul, as well as some nutters skiing the steep hanging glacier on the left hand side of the triangle, above the seracs….. after you.

We’ve been touring back up to the Midi Lift each day, getting the lungs and legs ready for Mont Blanc.
