This royal wedding weekend turned out to be a dry one, despite the weather forecast predicting heavy showers for both days. I think we managed to escape them during our climbing weekend with some lucky venue choices though!
Mark was down for a bit of an introduction to the delights of outdoor climbing, as opposed to the indoor wall stuff he’s used to back home.
So plenty of climbing technique, rope work and as many tips as possible then! We headed to Houndtor on the Friday doing some bouldering before getting the ropes out and setting up top-ropes on a few routes before some leading in the afternoon.
On the Saturday we choose to head off the moor to a sheltered Chudleigh where we once again got plenty of rope work done during and in-between climbs.
There’s a lot of topics to cover when it comes to setting anchors and belay systems but plenty of repetition normally helps. We took plenty of photo’s of each setup as an aid-memoir, which I’ve annotated and included in the gallery below.
Mark seconded some pretty tricky routes considering it was his second time on the rock, the indoor wall will feel easy in comparison with the rough Granite I’m sure!
