As most people are thinking that the climbing season is coming to an end and turning their attention to indoor or winter climbing, it was great to get a call from Stan to say they were down for a week and fancied heading out for a climb. As most of you will know the weather in the southwest has been a bit wild over the week end with a lot of rain and strong winds, so we went for a venue off the moors and out of the wind, the Dewerstone was the place to go

With a quick warm up route to get Stan back in Trad Climbing mode we tackled the VDif Route B, and then we were off. Stan leading the monster HS Central Grove, one of the best in the area, a quick bite to eat then Vala, a very powerful HVS 5a, nothing like anything young Stan has climbed on before, with lots of undercuts and very burly, a tough lead. We hoped to finish the day on Climbers Club Ordinary, but with the dark at our heels and the approaching rain it was an abseil retreat from the first belay and a dash for the cars.

This was another great days climbing with Stan.
