(I wrote this a while ago, but the mobile signal at basecamp is non-existent for the mobile data and I’ve only just got back to Namche to send it)
Since the last blog at Namche Bazaar we’ve had three days of trekking to get us to basecamp, here below the SW ridge of Ama Dablam.
With our steadily increasing height we’ve had a steady drop in temperature, with a couple of frosty nights and a little wind which has chilled the air somewhat.
The mountains have been getting more and more impressive as we’ve headed up the valley and it’s also been good to see Ama Dablam from a different perspective from Dingboche. A lot of Ama Dablam teams don’t trek this far up the Kumbu, but it has been great acclimatisation, and todays “short cut” from Dingboche to basecamp was really good. Nice and quiet, no other trekkers in sight, just the odd yak herder and escapee Yak.
Tomorrow I’ll post some photos of our well appointed basecamp but for now here’s a few of photos from the last few days.
