Shut down again by the wind this morning. We were on our way up the Dent Blanche south ridge, but with a deteriorating weather forecast and strong cold winds already blowing, we turned around before getting too committed.
Only a few other teams on the mountain and I think pretty much everyone turned around in the same spot, i.e. before the difficulties. The mountain does look to be in good condition though, it’s just getting the weather right to climb it.
It’s been a pretty stormy summer and the mountains are well plastered with snow. The mixed climbing conditions this autumn could be amazing – a silver lining! It’s good to be an optimist I reckon 🙂
Check out the north face of the Matterhorn below, I’ve never seen it so snowy in August.
