I love travelling and skiing to new places, but there’s something very satisfying about skiing on the local hill, especially if it’s quiet and the snow is as good as it is right now.

The avalanche hazard is rather high at the moment, with the potential of some big avalanches at altitude, so staying low and keeping on relatively low angled slopes is the way forward at the moment.

The Aiguillette des Houches is a great “hill” and offers many aspects and angles, so we could ski some truly amazing snow without doing anything too necky.

Well done to Greg for his first ski tour – and to old hand Mark who tested one slope by putting a decent crater sized hole in the middle of it!

We were back at the car at mid afternoon, and so had time for a quick coffee before skiing for a couple of hours in the resort of Les Houches itself, with the satisfying view across the valley to our mountain of the morning. Perfect!
