Mark and I headed up to Aonach Mor this morning to climb some Ice after yesterdays mixed in Sneachda.
The weather was truly superb today, little wind, clear skies and nice and cold. We could have been in the Alps, and the skiers were certainly enjoying themselves.
We abseiled down Left Twin, checking the top slope and kicking a lot of the loose snow down the climb. Plenty of snow around now, and the base of the crag was knee to waist deep. We stayed firmly attached to the abseil ropes, before belaying and climbing back up.
Lot’s of good ice, and a little steeper than normal at the moment, probably IV, 4 at the moment. Great fun, and Mark’s third ever route in crampons!
