After several months in the planning, our Ama Dablam expedition is finally underway. The advance party (Ben and Mike) are in Kathmandu to get the paperwork and logistics sorted before the Steve’s arrive on Sunday.
Yesterday afternoon was a jet lagged blur, but today has been more productive. We’ve ticked a few items off the list and have managed to fit in some coffee drinking and cake tasting in between jobs.
Kathmandu hasn’t changed much in the three years I’ve been away, it’s still a noisy, busy, chaotic, fume ridden hive of activity, but I still enjoy it. Not quite as much as I enjoy getting into the hills though!
I’ve only been hit by one motorbike so far, but have been offered many items to buy/smoke/try on/ride in and eat.
Over the next couple of days we’ve got various things to do, including a briefing at the ministry of tourism for our Expedition Permit. We are due to fly to Lukla on the 15th or 16th depending on flights and weather.
