  2. Aiguille de Peigne "normal route". This rocky peak above the mid-station of the Aiguille du Midi presents a variety of mountaineering and climbing challenges including both scrambling and pitched climbing. You will climb in both boots and rock shoes. It is a long day and we enforce turn around times to ensure everyones safety.
  3. After yesterdays efforts we use the Aiguille du Midi or Helbronner lift to access some mixed terrain at altitude. It is a opportunity to get on some snow and ice and also to get more acclimatised if you're planning on a extension to this trip (see below)

Monte Viso Technical Alpinism and Rock Climbing Trip

The prominent Italian peak is an interesting and challenging mountain in the souther alps. For full details of the peak and photos check out the route

page here.

Choice of 1:1 or 1:2 climbing depending on route choice. Price includes guiding fees and travel. You will need to cover lift passes and hut fees for you and your guide during the trip.

Dates: 2nd - 5th September 2019

Price 1:2 - £960 / Price 1:1 sharing 1:2 day 1 - £1645

  1. Meet in Chamonix and use lift system to access mid/high altitude climbing such as the Aiguille du Midi. On this first day we need to get acclimated and ready for some mixed ground on the Viso. Typically we head to the Pointe Lachenel or Arete Cosmiques. Night in Chamonix.
  2. Today is a travel day to get into position for Monte Viso. On the way we stop at the fantastic crag at Arnad in the Aosta valley where we do some short bolted climbs. The total drive is around four hours, with a two hour walk into the hut.
  3. Monte Viso lies directly behind the hut and we have a choice of routes, the East Ridge is a 1200m long AD and is a great challenge. This is guided 1:1. The "normal" route is equally as long but less committing and technical, guided at 1:2. Both require an early start and we spend a second night in the refuge.
  4. After breakfast we hike back to the car and head back towards Chamonix. If energy levels allow we can stop along the way and enjoy a longer multi-pitch route in the Aosta valley.

Add a two day Eiger or Matterhorn extension to this trip. 1:1 guiding including travel from Chamonix. From £1195 per person.
